A Short History of the Modern Media presents a concise history of the major media of the last 150 years, including print, stage, film, radio, television, sound recording, and the Internet.This is the seventh book I’ve completed while working for the Ethical Culture Fieldston School. It’s been a wonderful place to work. In addition to my students and colleagues – especially the members of Fieldston’s History Department – I’d like to thank Principal Laura Danforth and Head of School Damien Fernandez for their support. I don’t think there are many educational institutions on the planet that can match ECFS as a conducive home for the life of the mind.
