Superbikes

The term 'superbike' is not a new one - it was first applied to cover a genre of bikes more than thirty years ago. But the superbike of today is a very different beast from the machines of the late 1960s which began the trend for lightweight, powerful, exciting sports bikes. Modern machines such as Yamaha's YZF-R1, Hondas CBR900RR FireBlade or Suzukis GSXR1000 combine extremely powerful engines, producing over 100kW (150bhp), with advanced chassis technologies and incredibly low weight.
