The author states that the relationship of events in time is the true essence of history, so this is basically a daily journal that records the general events on a day-to-day basis. It is hoped this will add to the reader's understanding of the gallant but futile defense of the Philippine Islands involving some regular US Army units, thousands of untrained Filipinos, and even some National Guard units. This booklet is simply the record, and any attempt at analyzing what happened and why is intentionally left to the reader.
